The Holy Sea album launch and national tour

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

It has been a long time between drinks, but after a break of nearly five years, The Holy Sea return with a new album “A Beginner’s Guide to the Sea”. Exploring the time-honoured themes of love, death and alcohol, “A Beginner’s Guide…” balances rollicking drinking songs, with heartfelt longing; an album of maturity and pathos that lingers with the listener, a powerful exploration of geographic and personal dislocation, set amidst the ever present landscapes of the two cities in which it was conceived. They’re currently touring Nationally at launch the album at Pot Belly on Saturday May 31 with guests The Haunted Attics and Thickshake.

This just in from CITA guru Jol Duvall:

Got some more interviews coming up with Channel Vision on the Base, check it out with the TransACT network or online. I’m hoping to do more stories and interviews on the Canberra Industry side of music. Hopefully, they’ll be well worth the look, bit thanks to Steve Henderson and his CV Crew.

On the work front, due to my department re-sizing, I’ve been made redundant. A bit of a bummer 5 days away from me becoming a dad again, but hey, life is full of opportunities and this one might open up other doors. Anyone wishing to get in contact me via email, jolrug@yahoo.com will be the best as of May 5 and you can always call on 041 7273 041.

I’m going to focus on getting the CITA web site up and running properly “now I’ll have time……lol……. and developing the ‘Music Audits’ I spoke about earlier this year.

All girl band Gilf is looking for a Bass player. These ladies have really been doing some hard yards and it’s starting to pay dividends. They just need a committed lady with 4 stings to make the line up tight again.

BASS PLAYER NEEDED

Monday, May 26th, 2008

I play in a band that is in need of a good Bass Player. now there are several criteria for bieng in this band. All the current members are not what you could call young. In fact, and to be honest, if we were no name the band it would be the Grumpy Old Men. So if you are not bothered by age then talk to us. You must also have a sense of humour and a thick skin and like blues style music, with other bits thrown in.  At the moment we are a semi acoustic band but do plan to go fully electric sson. we have some gigs lined up but we play mostly for the fun and the love of, well, just playing music. So if you are interested please talk to us or come along and jam.

you can email me on the following

mileen@velocitynet.com.au

After posting this we got ourselves a Bass Player. he is pretty good too. thanks to this site because it really works.

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Hi all, I’ve switched Just Bands back to a forum setup & gotten rid of the front page.  I never had the time to keep the front page up-to-date & interesting, so it’s back to the old way of the site….enjoy!
