Realized (Japan) Tour!

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Realized hail from the northern Japanese city of Sapporo. Based around the famed venue, Klub Counter Action, the Sapporo HC scene has been thriving since the mid 80s producing bands such as Face of Change, Spitfire & Knucklehead. While taking their cues from the traditions of hardcore and crust, Realized go way beyond the usually limited strictures of these genres. Their arrangements are densely layered, precisely executed and frequently build towards epic crescendos. Despite possessing a brutal set of lungs, vocalist Fuji has a distinctly feminine, Iggy/Bowie-esque presence that provides them with an engaging focal point. Realized has supported the likes of The Locust and Insect Warfare in recent years. WeEmptyRooms & Broke Me Records, the team that brought you Birushanah, Palm & Ryokuchi, are proud to announce their forthcoming Australian tour. To commemorate, WeEmptyRooms will release a limited edition cassette of their long out-of-print second album. Their new album is out now through SMD.

Thrash band annoys neighbours - sport at 11

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Over at RiotACT, there’s a post from someone who has neighbours that practice with their thrash band every second Sunday from 10am to 4pm.  It seems the band have tried to do some sound proofing, but their long suffering neighbour can still here them play like they were moshing out in the front row at Metal For The Brain.

Sounds to me like the band are trying to keep everyone happy…but in the end, they need to practice.  Anyway…it’s an interesting discusion.  Check it out & leave your comments.

Who can we hate now?

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Well?  With Night Train gone (or at least sans singer) there’s a big hole in Canberra in regards to “bands we love to hate”.  Gone are the days of the Night Train bash-a-thons that made Just Bands such a fun & interesting site to check out day to day.  Personally, I’m too old to even know what bands are making waves around town anymore…I need your help.  Who can we hate?  Who should we hate?  Who doesn’t deserve to be hated but fcuk it we’re going to hate them anyway?
