Well, this is the last newsletter - I have listed all the bands (pretty sure all of them!) at the bottom of the page - A big thank you to all of them A couple of other people to thank - Thunderguns, Eystan, Lara, Cindy xo, Jay Rad, Steve Fkn Gray, Andi, Steph, George, Wayne, Nova, Greg Willy, JT, Mickelback, Trav, Jake, Bags, Dad and most of all Emma xo.. Also thanks to all the agents we have delt with over the years and our all our regulars - it has been fun and to say the least, seen some weird stuff - if only the walls could talk!

This just in….

“My name is Sean and I’m running the Pot belly Battle of the Bands commencing this Saturday 1st November, every year its held its a wonderful celebration of up and coming acts plus a useful forum for established bands to continue plying there wares. Unfortunately this year there seems to be a lack of bands, this is not out of any form of disenchantment or alike emotion but more due to the fact that the original dates I was given were wrong so the bands who were booked have to a large extent had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts. So I’m putting a shout out to all people who love music to contact all the bands they know, or at least alert them to this post or the link below because I NEED them, for this Saturday and following Saturdays throughout November.

Just stumbled on the Canberra Music Wikipedia page….some interesting bits & comments. What would you add/change?

It’s on again folks. The second Tuesday in November at the Phoenix with special guest artist Kama Linden from America. Get in early if you want a three song slot because they will go fast for this one or just come along and support Kama and your own original Canberra songwriting talent.

The Melbourne Cup will be over and that always signals that it’s just about party time so we expect a good crowd.

Let Gary know by the end of this week if you want a spot on the night.

Talked with the guys at Songland in the Hyperdome today, said they’re more than keen to sell local product. If you’re selling local product, now’s your chance to get it sold from a local store.

Think about it this way, If you are a member of ARIA (Which you should be), you sell 500 units through Songland, You’ll make the national charts………… (more…)

The Bumblebeez, controversial winners of Triple Js Unearthed comp in Canberra a few years back, have had ALL their gear stolen from their Braidwood home studio…according to this Canberra Times story.

Worse than all the gear itself, the man behind the ‘beez, Chris Colonna, says that he’s lost computer hard drives containing all of his work.

They were due to perform at the University of Canberra’s Stonefest on Friday night, the group’s first on-stage appearance in the capital since their Unearthed victory in 2002. That’s a long time between drinks…arguably a bit of a snub to their “home” town.

James was asked up to play with Kevin Borich, Phil Manning and Aussie Legend rhythm section Mark Kennedy & Harry Brus when he was just 13. A year later he was asked up on stage to play with Chain, Phil Manning handed the lead over for James to play the solo on Black & Blue.

James’ first album, DARK ANGEL, was recorded at Kevin Borich’s studio in December 2005. Mark Kennedy, Harry Brus & Kevin played on Dark Angel as well as Phil Emmanuel & Mal Eastick who both featured on the cover of Stevie Wrights GUITAR BAND with James & Kevin.

The National Campus Band Competition is holding the finals in Canberra this year and 7 of the best up-and-coming bands from all over Aus will be playing a set each at the CIT music centre in Woden.

Starts around 7pm, and from memory it’s $5 at the door.

Rubycon, who came second overall last year, are a Canberra band who took out the ACT finals for the second year running, are repping us in the ‘bra.

It’s definitely worth checking out, CIT do a pretty good job with the audio/visual stuff, they even have a big screen going.

Should be an excellent night.
